Take the Journey!

Hi! My name is Blaise and this is a picture of me and my twin sister, Helen. We don't have a picture like the rest of the CK101 kids because we have a different kind of a CK101 Page. We are going on a journey and we want to invite you to come along with us!

This is a very special kind of a journey. We will be visiting the "mysteries of Jesus" by way of Mary's Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart! Sounds really interesting, doesn't it? My sister and I thought so when we first heard about it.

Did you know that in the Gospel of Saint Luke, Luke actually tells us about this? Saint Luke explains that Mary "treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart."All these things" are the mysteries of Jesus!

We can think of it this way: Mary’s heart is like our roadmap!

I have a question for you. Have you ever gone on a big road trip? I have! Two summers ago my family drove from our home in Washington state all the way across the country to Washington, DC. We were gone for three whole weeks! There was so much to see and learn. It was great!

Sometimes there were opportunities to visit the local stores. Often I'd see something really amazing that I wanted to buy but it was usually too expensive. That's when I wished I had a big bag full of money so I could buy everything I wanted! I'd keep some of the amazing things for myself and the other amazing things I'd give to my friends and to my grandma and grandpa.

Well, that's kind of how it's going to be when we take our journey right now! (I'll try and explain it to you the way that my dad and mom explained it to me.) You see, Jesus has purchased an infinite (never ending!) amount of treasures for us when He suffered and died on the Cross to take away our sins. Every single thing that Jesus ever did has infinite worth and value! And Jesus, in His great

love for us, decided that He was going to put Mother Mary in charge of distributing all these treasures to us! We call Mary’s title of doing this: “Mediatrix of All Graces.”

Now imagine Blessed Mother saying to you: “Here, my child, I will open the storehouse of infinite treasures my Son has obtained for us. You can come and ask me for these treasures. You don’t need any money. Jesus has already paid for everything! Isn’t He wonderful? These treasures will help you reach the goal in your journey through life: To be a Saint! You can ask for yourself, for your family, for your friends and for the entire world! These treasures are available for anyone who asks.”

Do you remember when our CK101 friend Kathy told us about how she loves praying the Rosary because she loves to think about the different mysteries? The mysteries are the events that tell us the story of Jesus. Kathy gave us really great meditations for the Joyful Mysteries. We can also pray the Luminous Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries and the Glorious Mysteries.

Now here is the amazing thing I want you to understand. When we think about these mysteries and then offer them to God our Father when we pray, it's just like we went into a store and Mary put the most perfect, priceless treasures into our hands. Our Heavenly Father sees these treasures that we are offering to Him and His Heart is completely moved with love! How can He not be moved when we are offering Him Jesus in Mary's womb at the Incarnation? Or Jesus adored by the Magi at the Epiphany? Or Jesus in the Jordan River being baptized by John the Baptist? Or Jesus giving Himself at the Last Supper in the Most Holy Eucharist? Or Jesus dying for our sins? That's why the mysteries are so powerful! We are offering our Heavenly Father His beloved Son Jesus! And the more we do this, our hearts are moved! We begin to understand how much God loves us!

"And falling down they worshipped Him."
Matthew 2:11

All the mysteries are important! All of them contain infinite treasures! However, the Sorrowful Mysteries are especially important for us to think about and offer in prayer on a regular basis.

When we think about the sorrowful times in the lives of Jesus and Mary often, something kind of amazing happens. It’s like a ray of light coming into the darkness. We start to see things in our own lives differently. We begin to understand that hard times can have meaning. It helps us to be able to accept the hard times in our lives because we begin to understand it is the only way of becoming more and more like Jesus. It’s the way to becoming a Saint! And we know that we never have to be afraid during our hard times because Jesus and Mary are always with us! Isn't it great?

Now I want to tell you about the journey we are going to take. On our journey there will be pictures to see. There will be songs to listen to. And on our journey there will be interesting and important things to think about and pray about.

We are going to make 7 stops on our journey. These 7 stops are called: The Sorrows of Mary.

Ready?

Let's prepare by praying one "Our Father."

We'll unite our prayers with all the other CK101 friends who are also taking the journey today!

“In the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name.

Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.”

Dear sweet Jesus, how much You love me! You have given me so many wonderful gifts!

Right now I would like to thank You for giving me the most precious gift of Your Mother Mary to be my Mother too. Jesus, I know that when You were on this earth with Mother Mary You did not always have an easy, joyful time. Often there were difficult and sorrowful times. Mother Mary remembers every moment she spent with You on earth and treasures these times in her heart.

There is no person who ever lived on this earth who loved You more than she did.

There is no person who ever lived on this earth who was more like You than she was.

When You were joyful, she was joyful. When You were sad, she was sad.

I want to learn and remember the 7 Sorrows of Blessed Mother and treasure them in my heart too

Jesus, the more I learn about You, the more I can love You.

The more I learn about You, the more I can be like You.

Mother Mary, share with me the treasures in your heart,

so I can love Jesus the way He deserves to be loved.

Share with me the 7 Sorrows of your heart.

The 1st Sorrow of Blessed Mother:

MARY ACCEPTS IN FAITH THE PROPHECY OF SIMEON

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Luke

Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother:

“This child is destined to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel,

a sign that will be opposed – and you yourself shall be pierced with a sword –

so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare."

MOTHER OF SORROWS

Mother of Sorrows, Lady of Tears

Virgin Most Desolate, all through the years,

The words of the prophet every day are renewed,

The sword does pierce thy tender heart through.

The sword does pierce, the sword does pierce,

the sword does pierce thy tender heart through.

The 2nd Sorrow of Blessed Mother:

MARY FLEES INTO EGYPT WITH JESUS AND JOSEPH

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Matthew

The angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph with the command:

“Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you otherwise.

Herod is searching for the child to destroy him.”

Joseph got up and took the child and his mother and left that night for Egypt.

Dearest Jesus, how wonderful it was for You to have Saint Joseph there

to protect You and take care of You when You were a boy.

I pray for my dad and I ask Saint Joseph to protect and guide him in a special way too.

I pray for all the fathers in the world to be good and holy.

And Jesus, I thank God the Father in Heaven,

who is Your Father and my Father,

for all the good things He gives me.

GOOD SAINT JOSEPH

Dear humble husband of Mary so dear,

Saint Joseph, good Joseph, my prayer please now hear.

You guided and guarded sweet Jesus each day,

Provided, protected; you always did pray.

In the carpenter shop you worked side by side,

To you all the love in His heart did confide.

O strong gentle Joseph, patient and kind,

Help me to love God with my whole heart and mind!

Dear humble husband of Mary so dear,

Saint Joseph, good Joseph, my prayer please now hear.  (Repeat)

I love you Saint Joseph be always near!

The 3rd Sorrow of Blessed Mother:

MARY SEEKS JESUS LOST IN JERUSALEM

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Luke

At the end of the feast, the child Jesus remained behind unknown to his parents.

Thinking he was in the party, they continued their journey for a day,

looking for him among their relatives and acquaintances.

Not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him.

My dear Jesus, I know that Mother Mary and Saint Joseph found You in the temple.

I know that I can always find You in my church.

I know that You are really, truly present in the tabernacle in every Catholic Church.

I look for the burning candle next to the tabernacle and it shows me that

You are actually there under the appearance of the little white Host.

I know that I can come visit You anytime and You will always be there for me.

Thank You Jesus for thinking of such a wonderful, special way to be with us!

I PRAY THAT EVERYONE WILL LOVE YOU

AND SHOW YOU RESPECT

IN EVERY TABERNACLE

IN EVERY CATHOLIC CHURCH

IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

A VISIT WITH JESUS

Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity,

“My Lord and God!” Jesus is near.

Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity,

Jesus, my Lord, I know You’re here.

Jesus I’ve come to visit You in Your home,

I bend my right knee and bow to Your throne,

Quietly I kneel, I whisper, “I love You so.”

My eyes cannot see, but my heart truly knows:

Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity,

“My Lord and God!” Jesus is near.

Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity,

Jesus, my Lord, I know You’re here.

O Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly.

I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus Christ,

present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages,

sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended.

Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity,

“My Lord and God!” Jesus is near.

Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity,

Jesus, my Lord, I know You’re here.

The 4th Sorrow of Blessed Mother:

MARY MEETS JESUS ON THE WAY TO CALVARY

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Luke

As they led him away, they laid hold of one Simon the Cyrenean who was coming in from the fields.

They put a cross beam on Simon's shoulders for him to carry along behind Jesus.

A great crowd of people followed him,

including women who beat their breasts and lamented over him.

My dear Jesus, sometimes things happen in my life that seem so difficult.

Help me, sweet Jesus, to be strong when things get hard.

Let me not run away from the crosses in my life but to unite them to Your big Cross...

so I can become a Saint!

Jesus, I pray for all people in the world who are suffering and hurting so they will never lose hope.

Let their prayer be the same prayer as mine: Jesus, I trust in You!

TEACH ME HOW TO LOVE

Mother Mary take my hand,

Lead me on the way,

Up the hill of Calvary,

Near you I will stay.

Jesus! Jesus! Savior! Lord!

On the Cross above,

Look down on Your little one,

Teach me how to love.

Never from my cross, dear Lord,

Let me run away.

Up the hill of Calvary,

Near You I will stay.

Jesus! Jesus! Savior! Lord!

On the Cross above.

Look down on Your little one,

Teach me how to love.

Never from my cross dear Lord,

Let me run away.

Up the hill of Calvary,

Near You I will stay.

Jesus! Jesus! Savior! Lord!

On the Cross above,

Look down on Your little one,

Teach me how to love.

Only how to love, only Lord to love...

The 5th Sorrow of Blessed Mother:

MARY STANDS NEAR THE CROSS OF HER SON

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint John

Near the cross of Jesus there stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas,

and Mary Magdalene. Seeing his mother there with the disciple whom he loved,

Jesus said to his mother,“Woman, there is your son.”

In turn he said to the disciple,“There is your mother.”

Dear Jesus, I thank You so much for leaving Your Father and Your beautiful home in Heaven

to come down to earth and suffer and die so I could be with You someday

forever and ever in Heaven!

Let me never, never forget how much You love me.

I pray for all the people in the world who do not know You that they will come to know You.

I pray for all the people in the world who do not love You

that they will love You with their whole heart!

JESUS, I LOVE YOU!

Thank You for dying for me on the Cross!

And Mother Mary, thank you for standing at the foot of the Cross and praying for me!

It was here that you became my Mother.

It was here that your Son redeemed the world!

YOU HAVE REDEEMED THE WORLD!

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You!

Because by Your holy Cross,

You have redeemed the world!

You have redeemed the world!

1. Dear Jesus we come now before You,

These words of love we sing,

Thank You for dying for me on the Cross,

Hail Jesus! Our Savior! Our King!

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You!

Because by Your holy Cross,

You have redeemed the world!

You have redeemed the world!

2. We praise You for Saints and for Martyrs,

Dear brothers and sisters above,

Giving their lives so we could believe

In Jesus, our Lord and our Love!

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You!

Because by Your holy Cross,

You have redeemed the world!

You have redeemed the world!

3. And Jesus if ever You call me,

To suffer for Christ, my King,

Fill me with courage and put in my heart

Your joy so I always will sing:

We adore You, O Christ, and we bless You!

Because by Your holy Cross,

You have redeemed the world!

You have redeemed the world!

You have redeemed the world!

You have redeemed the world!

The 6th Sorrow of Blessed Mother:

MARY RECEIVES THE BODY OF JESUS TAKEN DOWN FROM THE CROSS

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Mark

As it grew dark (it was Preparation Day, that is, the eve of the Sabbath),

Joseph from Arimathea arrived – a distinguished member of the Sanhedrin.

He was bold enough to seek an audience with Pilate and urgently requested the body of Jesus.

Pilate released the corpse to Joseph. Then, having bought a linen shroud, Joseph took him down.

My sweet, sorrowful Mother Mary!

How sad your heart must be at this moment.

You are at peace because you know that Jesus completed His mission.

He did exactly what He came on earth to do.

He suffered and died on the Cross for me!

So that when my mission on earth is done, I can be in Heaven forever.

But sin is so terrible that Jesus died in a terrible way and that is why your heart is so sad.

You think of the cruel way your precious Jesus was treated as you hold His sacred hands.

You carefully remove the crown of thorns.

You gently kiss His head just like you did so many times when He was a boy.

You feel the sword of sorrow in your heart that Simeon told you, you would feel

when you and Saint Joseph brought your little Jesus to the temple 33 years ago.

Mother Mary, let me remember this moment with you for as long as I live on this earth!

When I am tempted to sin,

I will remember how terrible sin is and choose to do only God’s Will in all things.

I will remember your example and no matter how hard things seem to be...

I will remain with you at the foot of the Cross and keep my eyes and my heart only on Jesus.

Please help me to be good.

Please help me to choose right.

Please help me to be a Saint!

I love you, Mother Mary!

I pray now for my mom.

Please help her everyday to be holy. Help her to be a good wife and mother.

Help all mothers in the world to be good and holy.

And help all mothers say “yes” to the wonderful gift of life!

MOTHER OF SORROWS

Mother of Sorrows, Lady of Tears,

Virgin Most Desolate, all through the years,

The words of the prophet everyday are renewed,

The sword does pierce thy tender heart through.

Dear Mother Afflicted, when I think of your pain,

Standing beneath the Cross where your dear Lamb was slain,

Teach me to pray, as you prayed with your Son:

“Father in Heaven, only Thy Will be done,

Father in Heaven, only Thy Will be done.”

Mother of Sorrows, Lady of Tears,

Virgin Most Desolate, all through the years,

The words of the prophet everyday are renewed,

The sword does pierce thy tender heart through.

The sword does pierce,

The sword does pierce,

The sword does pierce thy tender heart through.

The 7th Sorrow of Blessed Mother:

MARY PLACES THE BODY OF JESUS IN THE TOMB

AWAITING THE RESURRECTION!

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint John

They took Jesus' body, and in accordance with Jewish burial custom,

bound it up in wrappings of cloth with perfumed oils.

In the place where he had been crucified there was a garden,

and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had ever been buried.

Because of the Jewish Preparation Day they buried Jesus there, for the tomb was close at hand.

My dearest Mother, we come now to the 7th and last sorrow.

The body of sweet Jesus is laid in the tomb...

and the big, heavy stone is rolled to close the entrance so nobody can enter.

You miss Him.

How you must long to be with Him in Heaven right now!

However, you know that your mission on earth is not yet over.

Jesus wants you to stay with St. John and the Apostles and pray for the Holy Spirit to come on Pentecost!

He wants you to stay and fulfill your role as Mother of the Church.

And though you long to be with your Son, the King of Heaven and earth,

you patiently wait in anticipation for His glorious Resurrection!

Jesus said He must suffer and die but on the third day He would be raised up

by the power of the Holy Spirit to the glory of God the Father!

So patiently you wait and pray.

Thank you, Mother Mary, for sharing these treasured moments of your heart with me!

I will try to think about them often.

I will never forget how much you love me!

I will never forget how much Jesus loves me!

I know that you will pray for me until my mission on this earth is done.

I know you will help me to live everyday of the week for your Son.

Praised be Jesus Christ! Now and forever!

EVERYDAY OF THE WEEK!

Jesus gave me Himself on Thursday!

Jesus gave me Himself on Thursday!

His own Body and Blood, He gave me out of love!

Jesus gave me Himself on Thursday!

Jesus suffered and died on Friday!

Jesus suffered and died on Friday!

So I wouldn't be lost, Jesus carried His Cross!

Jesus suffered and died on Friday!

Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday! (Alleluia!)

Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday! (Alleluia!)

All my sins He forgives! My King Jesus, He lives!

Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday! (Alleluia!)

Everyday of the week, of my Jesus I'll speak,

Jesus loves me and Jesus loves you!

And we love you dear Jesus too!

AMEN!
