Take the Journey!

Hi! My name is Blaise. I don't have a regular picture like the rest of the CK101 kids because I have a different kind of a CK101 Page. That's because I'm going on a journey and I want to invite you to come along with me!

This is a very special kind of a journey. We will be visiting some of the Mysteries of Jesus by way of Mary's Immaculate and Sorrowful Heart. Sounds interesting, doesn't it? I thought so too when I very first heard about it.

Did you know that Saint Luke actually talks about this in his Gospel? He says that: "Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart." "All these things" are the Mysteries of Jesus!

We can think of it this way: Mary’s heart is like our roadmap...

I have a question for you. Have you ever gone on a big road trip? I have! Two summers ago my family, Dad, Mom, me and my twin sister Helen, drove from our home in Washington state all the way across the country to Washington, DC. We were gone for three whole weeks! There was so much to see and learn. It was great!

Sometimes there were opportunities to visit the local stores. Often I'd see something really amazing that I wanted to buy but it was usually too expensive. That's when I wished I had a big bag full of money so I could buy everything I wanted! I'd keep some of the amazing things for myself and the other amazing things I'd give to my friends and to my grandma and grandpa.

Well, that's kind of how it's going to be when we take our journey right now! (I'll try and explain it to you the way that my dad and mom explained it to me.) You see, Jesus has purchased an infinite (never ending!) amount of treasures for us when He suffered and died on the Cross to take away our sins. Every single thing that Jesus ever did has infinite worth and value! And Jesus, in His great love for us, decided that He was going to put Mother Mary in charge of distributing all these treasures to us. We call Mary’s title of doing this: “Mediatrix of All Graces.”

Now imagine Blessed Mother saying to you: “Here, my child, I will open the storehouse of infinite treasures my Son has obtained for us. You can come and ask me for these treasures. You don’t need any money. Jesus has already paid for everything! Isn’t He wonderful? These treasures will help you reach the goal in your journey through life: To be a Saint! You can ask for yourself, for your family, for your friends and for the entire world! These treasures are available for anyone who asks.”

Do you remember when our CK101 friend Kathryn told us about how she loves praying the Rosary because she loves to think about the different Mysteries? The Mysteries are the events that tell us the story of Jesus. Kat gave us really great meditations for the Joyful Mysteries. We can also pray the Luminous Mysteries, the Sorrowful Mysteries and the Glorious Mysteries.

Now here is the amazing thing I want you to understand. When we think about these Mysteries and then offer them to God our Father when we pray, it's just like we went into a store and Mary put the most perfect, priceless treasures into our hands.

Our Heavenly Father sees these treasures that we are offering to Him and His Heart is completely moved with love! How can He not be moved when we are offering Him Jesus in Mary's womb at the Incarnation? Or Jesus in the manger at Bethlehem? Or Jesus in the Jordan River being baptized by John the Baptist? Or Jesus giving Himself at the Last Supper in the Most Holy Eucharist? Or Jesus dying for our sins? That's why the Mysteries are so powerful! We are offering our Heavenly Father His beloved Son Jesus! And the more we do this, our hearts are moved! We begin to understand how much God loves us!

All the mysteries are important! All of them contain infinite treasures! However, the Sorrowful Mysteries are especially important for us to think about and offer in prayer on a regular basis.

When we think about the sorrowful times in the lives of Jesus and Mary often, something kind of amazing happens. It’s like a ray of light coming into the darkness. We start to see things in our own lives differently. We begin to understand that hard times can have meaning. It helps us to be able to accept the hard times in our lives because we begin to understand it is the only way of becoming more and more like Jesus. It’s the way to becoming a Saint! And we know that we never have to be afraid during our hard times because Jesus and Mary are always with us! Isn't it great?

Now I want to tell you about the journey we are going to take. On our journey there will be pictures to see. There will be songs to listen to. And on our journey there will be interesting and important things to think about and pray about.

We are going to make 7 stops on our journey. These 7 stops are called: The Sorrows of Mary.

MARY ACCEPTS IN FAITH

THE

PROPHECY OF SIMEON

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Luke

Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother: “This child is destined to be the downfall and the rise of many in Israel, a sign that will be opposed – and you yourself shall be pierced with a sword – so that the thoughts of many hearts may be laid bare."

MY prayer intention

Dear Mother Mary, as I listen to this song, I pray that when I come to the end of my journey, I will have a greater love for You and our Lord Jesus!

 MARY FLEES INTO EGYPT

WITH JESUS AND JOSEPH

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Matthew

The angel of the Lord suddenly appeared in a dream to Joseph with the command: “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you otherwise. Herod is searching for the child to destroy him.” Joseph got up and took the child and his mother and left that night for Egypt.

MY prayer intention

as i listen to this song

Dearest Jesus, how wonderful it was for You to have Saint Joseph there to protect You and take care of You when You were a boy! I pray for my dad and I ask Saint Joseph to protect and guide him in a special way too.

I pray for all the fathers in the world to be good and holy.

The 3rd Sorrow of Blessed Mother

MARY SEEKS JESUS

LOST IN JERUSALEM

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Luke

At the end of the feast, the child Jesus remained behind unknown to his parents. Thinking he was in the party, they continued their journey for a day, looking for him among their relatives and acquaintances. Not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem in search of him.

MY prayer intention

as i listen to this song

Dear Jesus, I pray that everyone will love You and show You respect in every tabernacle in every Catholic Church in the whole world.

The 4th Sorrow of Blessed Mother

MARY MEETS JESUS

ON THE WAY TO CALVARY

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Luke

As they led him away, they laid hold of one Simon the Cyrenean who was coming in from the fields. They put a cross beam on Simon's shoulders for him to carry along behind Jesus.

A great crowd of people followed him, including women who beat their breasts and lamented over him.

MY prayer intention

as i listen to this song

Jesus, I pray for all people in the world who are suffering and hurting so they will never lose hope.

Let their prayer be the same prayer as mine: Jesus, I trust in You!

The 5th Sorrow of Blessed Mother

MARY STANDS NEAR

THE CROSS OF HER SON

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint John

Near the cross of Jesus there stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary  Magdalene. Seeing his mother there with the disciple whom he loved, Jesus said to his mother,“Woman, there is your son.” In turn he said to the disciple,“There is your mother.”

MY prayer intention

as i listen to this song

I pray for all the people in the world who do not know You that they will come to know You.

I pray for all the people in the world who do not love You that they will love You with their whole heart!

The 6th Sorrow of Blessed Mother

MARY RECEIVES THE

BODY OF JESUS

TAKEN DOWN FROM THE CROSS

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint Mark

As it grew dark (it was Preparation Day, that is, the eve of the Sabbath), Joseph from Arimathea arrived – a distinguished member of the Sanhedrin. He was bold enough to seek an audience with Pilate and urgently requested the body of Jesus. Pilate released the corpse to Joseph. Then, having bought a linen shroud, Joseph took him down.

MY prayer intention

as i listen to this song

I pray now for my mom. Please help her everyday to be holy. Help her to be a good wife and mother.

Help all mothers in the world to be good and holy. And help all mothers say “yes” to the wonderful gift of life!

The 7th Sorrow of Blessed Mother

MARY PLACES THE

BODY OF JESUS IN THE TOMB

AWAITING THE RESURRECTION!

A reading from the Gospel according to Saint John

They took Jesus' body, and in accordance with Jewish burial custom, bound it up in wrappings of cloth with perfumed oils. In the place where he had been crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had ever been buried. Because of the Jewish Preparation Day they buried Jesus there, for the tomb was close at hand.

MY prayer intention

as i listen to this song

Thank you, Mother Mary, for sharing these treasured moments of your heart with me! I will try to think about them often. I will never forget how much you love me! I will never forget how much Jesus loves me!

I know that you will pray for me until my mission on this earth is done. I know you will help me to live every day of the week for your Son!

Praised be Jesus Christ!

Now and forever!

AMEN!

AMEN!

Thank you for visiting my CK101 Page and taking the journey! You can come back here anytime and take the journey again and again. We'll be here! God bless you!
